Setting your hourly rate: what helpers in Norway earn

A look at average rates by category, how to price competitively, and when to charge more.

Pricing yourself correctly is one of the most important decisions you will make as a helper. Too low and you undermine your worth; too high and you miss bookings.

Average rates in Norway by category

Cleaning: 280โ€“450 NOK/hr Handyman: 400โ€“700 NOK/hr Moving help: 350โ€“550 NOK/hr Tutoring: 350โ€“500 NOK/hr IT & Tech: 450โ€“750 NOK/hr Personal Training: 400โ€“650 NOK/hr Pet Care / Dog Walking: 200โ€“350 NOK/hr Cooking: 300โ€“500 NOK/hr

Start slightly below median

When you are new to the platform and have no reviews, price yourself 10โ€“15% below the median for your category. Once you have five solid reviews, raise your rate to match the market.

Charge more for specialisations

If you have a certification, years of experience, or a speciality (eco cleaning products, baby-proofing, music exam preparation), you can charge a premium. Call it out explicitly in your bio.

Factor in travel time for distant jobs

If a job takes 30 minutes to reach, build that into your effective rate or set a minimum booking duration. Many helpers set a 2-hour minimum to make shorter travel worthwhile.

Raise rates gradually, not suddenly

If you have regulars, give them a heads-up before increasing your rate. A polite message explaining that you are adjusting your prices next month maintains trust and keeps the relationship.

Track your earnings over time

Keep a simple spreadsheet of hours worked and income. Knowing your effective hourly rate (after travel, supplies, and any Hire2Skill fees) helps you make smarter pricing decisions.
